Edward A. Kurker, of West Roxbury and West Hyannisport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on June 9, 2017. He was 88 years old.
Edward was born and raised In Boston and over the years developed a great love of Cape Cod, specifically Craigville Beach. This was the site of many memorable family gatherings. Ed treated everyone like family and If you were in his presence, he made you feel welcome, comfortable and confident, as he served as an encouraging teacher and mentor to many. He was a natural born business man, who made his own success in life and was generously eager to share it with those around him. He had the ability to build almost anything he set his mind to, and his greatest achievement was building his family. Ed was happiest surrounded by his family and friends and was the consummate host. His children, and later his grandchildren, were his life. He was married to the love of his life, Dolores, for over 64 years, having met her when they were classmates in school at the age of 5. Ed had a fantastic sense of humor, and his wit remained quick, even until his last days. He was proud of his service in the US Navy and very proud of his Arabic culture, and loved to share his love of music and food. His doctor called him one of the strongest human beings she had ever met, outliving his body for over a decade. This was a true testament to his positive attitude and the constant love of his family, always around him, sharing in his encouragement and love.
Ed was the dear and devoted husband of Dolores (Thomas). Loving father of Wayne Kurker and his wife Peggy of West Hyannisport, Susan Kurker of West Roxbury and Lisa Mitchell and her husband Gary of Walpole. Cherished grandfather, “Gidu” of Julia, Jared, Makenzie, Garrett, and Megan. Dear brother of William Kurker of West Roxbury and the late George and Albert. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
