Frederick "Fred" Nicholas Kurker, 89, of Lake Worth, Florida and Plymouth, MA passed away on February 13th, 2018.
Fred was born November 4th 1928 in Boston, MA. He was a longtime resident of West Roxbury, MA. He and his wife Madeline (Cahaly) Kurker later moved to Plymouth, MA. They eventually moved to Florida in the 1990s, finally settling in Lake Worth. Fred was an entrepreneur and started in his family business, U.S. Fixture Corporation in Boston, MA outfitting many of the hotels and restaurants in the metro area and South Shore. He later took his knowledge of commercial kitchen outfitting and fixtures and opened a cookware store called The Gourmet Galley in Hanover, MA. He became the President of The Hanover Mall Merchants Association and later volunteered with The Small Business Association and Chamber of Commerce passing his business wisdom to aspiring local entrepreneurs. Fred had many accomplishments in his lifetime including serving upon The Advisory Board of The Men's Society of St. John of Damascus in Boston and Dedham. He had real estate dealings up and down the east coast of the United States. In his later life, he was a volunteer with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Department's Citizen's Patrol, as well as greeting guests at West Palm Beach International Airport. Fred was a world traveler and a lifetime philanthropist helping many organizations.
Frederick Nicholas Kurker is survived by his wife of 69 years, Madeline, as well as his children Linda, Anne and Frederick II. He is predeceased by his daughter Sandra. Fred has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
All services were held Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at Church of St. John of Damascus, 300 West Street, Dedham, MA 02026. Fred was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, Boston, MA.
