You are one of a kind my cousin. You are one of a kind my friend. They don’t make them like you anymore!

You took me in when I was 18 freshly landed in the US with only a briefcase, determination, hope and ambition. What I needed, was a little push, a little support and a bit of comfort. What you gave me, was much much more. You generosity, Your warmth, Your support - I will never forget. And most of all, I will always remember how you made it all seem so light with wit a sense of humor that brought tremendous happiness to me and the entire room.

There are very few people that have influenced my life the way that you have. There are very few people in my life who have supported me the way that you have.

You are one of a kind my cousin. They don’t make them like you anymore.

I will miss you.

I will always remember John with a smile on his face. He was a gentleman and always said hello. John never let his disability get in the way of what he wanted to do, which was an inspiration to many. I will miss him - we all will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Dear Jackie, Michael, and family
I just wanted to let you know who John was to me. John was a mentor to myself and many others. Anytime I needed help or a hand up he was there. His smile would light up any room. Awhile back I was in the hospital for three weeks, John must have called me five different times. Making sure my process was going well and helping me cope with the loss of one of my big toes. He always treated me as family and had a kind word every time I saw him.
This past December we went to an event in Downtown Boston, neither he or I could drive there. A friend was nice enough to drive us in. The only problem was a high jump up into the truck. John said "watch out" as he proceeded to jump up into the truck. He looked at me and said your turn. Priceless!
I will miss my friend.

My Brother and my friend may your journey be swift into God's awaiting arms. Your cheerful smile was sorely missed at our lodge meeting. I am thankful to have shared many memories with you and of course the stories that you told me about my father that I never knew about. You were a Godsend to all who knew you. So Mote It Be!

Message from The Masons
April 6, 2017 1:00 PM

To the family and friends:
Wor John Shalhoub, a man who transcended generations of Masons, has passed to the Celestial Lodge above. A Brother who always had a smile on his face no matter the situation. Wor Shalhoub faced many challenges in his life from facing cancer at a young age which cost him one of his legs to losing the love of his life. John faced adversities with a positive attitude, dignity and class . He would often make fun of his own physical challenge. In fact, he entered a dance contest in Norwood just a few years ago, and was seen on stage spinning his artificial leg in a full circle. This was surprising to several people in the audience but that was John being John. He loved our fraternity and his lodge. He would often come down to rehearsals and other lodge meetings just to be as he would say, "with the guys".

He did this, not because he had to, but because he wanted to. Our fraternity needs more John Shalhoubs in it. We need to learn from his exuberance and his zeal for life. He will be truly missed and there's a void in all of our lives that will never be filled quite the same way. God Bless you Worshipful Brother John Shalhoub. I know you are in the Celestial Lodge above with your loved ones and that smile. May your family find peace during this sad time.

My heart felt condolences to your family. Being a first year Freemason, it was always a pleasure to see and talk with Him. John always had an upbeat attitude and liked to talk about our fraternity, which rubbed off on me. He meant a lot to me and will certainly be missed.

We will miss our friend Johnny and his great personality. As a frequent guest at Tugboats and at xmas parties and watching baseball in Florida he always made me laugh. My fondest memory of him was when he came into the restaurant and ordered a half of Hamburg. Our condolences to all of the family.

Dear Jackie, Michael and family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your amazing dad. Growing up across the street from your family gave me the best and most treasured memories. Your dad was one of my favorite people from my childhood. He was always so happy and fun to be around.

I will never forgot all the times I "tried" to sleep over only to beg to go home in the night. He would call up my dad and watch me cross the street to safety...chuckling that maybe next time I would stay! He never made me feel bad about it. He was like a second father to me and I am a better person for having known him.

You guys sure got lucky in the dad department. His love of his family was his greatest treasure. You stayed close to him and always appreciated him. His legacy will live on forever because of that.

My heart goes out to you all and I am keeping you close in prayer today and always. I hope he and your mother are smiling down on you.

All of the Goldens send their love. xl
