Joseph J. Bellissimo, of Randolph, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on February 12, 2018. He was 79 years old.
Born and raised in Cambridge, Joseph served as a Military Police officer in the US Army and then served the City of Cambridge for over 31 years as a patrolman for the Cambridge Police Department. He was the past-president of the Cambridge Police Patrolman’s Association a proud member of the Honor Guard. Joseph loved his city and he loved being a motorcycle cop.
Known for being a prankster, Joseph had the biggest heart and he loved making people laugh. What he enjoyed most was being around family, cooking and preparing Italian food and enjoying it with those closest to him.
Joseph was the dear and devoted husband of June (Stack). Loving father of Darlene Bellissimo of North Carolina, Philip Bellissimo of Bridgewater, Darin Bellissimo of Middleboro and Gina Bellissimo of Pennsylvania and the late Carolynn DiRoma-Sullivan. Cherished grandfather, “Papa” of Darin Jr., Charlie, Dylan, Michael, Ryan, Brittni and Johnny and great-grandfather of Kendall. Dear brother of the late Salvi and Jimmy Bellissimo, Josephine Mailino, Mary Martin, Nancy DiSalvo, Sarah Gedzuin and Rose DiNatale. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Joseph’s Funeral will be from the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY, Tuesday at 9 a.m. His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Joseph will be laid to rest with US Army Military Honors at the Gardens Cemetery in West Roxbury.
