Judith N. Leon-Assaf

Judith N. “Judie” Leon-Assaf, of Roslindale formerly of Milton, passed away from a sudden heart attack in Lebanon on November 17, 2016.  She was 71 years old.

Born in West Roxbury, Judie's family later moved to Milton, and she was a graduate of Milton High School.  She worked as a reservationist for Northeast Airlines before working for Heller Travel in Roslindale.  In 1984 she opened “Travel by Judie” and owned and operated her business on Corinth St. in Roslindale Sq.  

Judy was the former “Mayor of Roslindale” and was active in many Roslindale community groups including the Roslindale Board of Trade.

Judie loved her work and was not only a travel agent, but she also traveled the world herself.

She was the dear and devoted wife of Joe Assaf. Loving daughter of the late Charles and Rebecca (Sullivan). Dear sister of Dianne Leon of Australia, Dorothy Leon-Bizak and her husband Paul of Braintree and the late Charles and George Leon.  She is also survived by her nieces Darlene Leon, Paula McKenzie, Rebecca Rayner and many other nieces and nephews in Lebanon.

Judie's Funeral Service was held at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral, 7 VFW Pkwy West Roxbury, on December 16, 2016.  She was laid to rest with her parents, Charles and Rebecca, and her brothers, Charles Jr. and George, at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
