Arthur G. “Artie” Buttlar of Mansfield and Woodstock, VT, formerly of Dedham, passed away on December 19, 2018. He was 85 years old.
Born in Dedham, Artie was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories and enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and snowmobiling at the family vacation home in Woodstock, Vermont.
Artie worked tirelessly for 40 years, countless hours, to provide for his family and allow him the ability to build the home in Vermont. The home was near and dear to his heart, and there were always projects to be done. Above all else, Artie was happiest around family as he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Artie was the dear and devoted husband of Janet (Hadayia). Loving father of Arthur J. Buttlar of Attleboro, Susan Van Newkirk of Natick and Kim Buttlar of Studio City, CA. Beloved grandfather “Puppa” of Sean Van Newkirk of Natick. Dear brother of George Buttlar of RI, Marjorie Floyd of Walpole and the late John, Herbert and Elaine Buttlar. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Artie’s Funeral Service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Syrian Orthodox Church, 149 Park St. WEST ROXBURY. Visiting hours will be held Sunday 5-8 p.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home, 8 Spring St (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Artie’s memory may be made to the Church.
