John M. Demerjian, of Roslindale, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2019 at the age of 94. He was surrounded by family who cherished him.
John will be fondly remembered as a friendly soul, who enjoyed laughter, people and community, all while supporting his loved ones like the stone foundation of a house. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He was a former commander of the Nicholas G. Beram Veterans Association and recipient of their Distinguished Service Award and The Veterans Service Award. His long and healthy life, and the gifts of love he gave throughout his time with us, will never be forgotten.
John was the dear and devoted husband of Jeanette (Ganem). Loving father of Thomas Shaheen and his wife Gail of Norfolk, Barbara Sennett and her husband Eliot of Norfolk, Linda Heim and her husband David of Roslindale, Laura Hayes and her husband Michael of TX, Paul Shaheen of Roslindale, Michael Demerjian of Watertown, Paul Demerjian of Stoneham, John Demerjian Jr. and his wife Lauren of Sterling and Robert Demerjian and his wife Louisa of Plymouth. Cherished grandfather “Jiddoo” of Lisamarie, John III, Sierra, Sydney, Alex, Erin, Charlotte and Sebastian. Dear brother of Alice Louis of Braintree and Elaine Bitar and her husband Daniel of Foxborough. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
John's Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of the Annunciation Cathedral on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home, 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
John will be laid to rest, with Military Honors, at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
