Laure (Tannous) Ataya, of Dedham, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on May 26, 2019. She was 86 years old.
Laure was an amazing mother and grandmother who loved her family above all else. Not only did she enjoy cooking and taking care of her family, she also made sure that all of the nurses that came to help care for her, left with food. She would want you to eat until you were full, and then eat some more. Her hospitality was first class, right up until the end, when she would always make sure to move her walker to make sure the carpet was just right. The love she put into taking care of all around her, was second to none, and she took a great deal of pride in maintaining her beautiful home.
Laure was the dear and devoted wife of over 61 years, of Jack G. Ataya. Loving mother of John Ataya and his wife Fida of Dedham, Joseph Ataya and his wife Claude of Dedham and Viviane Ataya and her husband Greg Gilbert of Peachtree City, Georgia. Beloved grandmother “Teta” of Joelle, Julien, Lorrie, Sophie and Jessica. Dear sister of Aida Eid, Yvonne Kassis, Badiaa Georges, George, Abe and Jean Tannous and the late Souad Geagea. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
