Rose Ann (Bethoney) Saba

Rose A. (Bethoney), of Walpole, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on June 21, 2019. She was 78 years old.

Born in Boston, Rose was a long-time parishioner of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.  She spent years as the treasurer of the annual bazaar and helped in the religious education program. She met the love of her life, Robert, when she was 6 years old and he was 8, living downstairs from her in West Roxbury. They were married for over 57 years and the family they built was the most important thing in her life.

Above all else, Rose loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dinner for 28 was a common occurrence in her home, especially when her family came over for “Sundays at Sitho’s.” 

Rose was the dear and devoted wife of Robert Saba.  Loving mother of Dianne Martel of Norfolk and her late husband Gerard, Charles Saba and his wife Nancy of Walpole, Renee Prevett and her husband Andy of Foxborough, Elizabeth Nuvoli and her husband Bob of Braintree and Joseph Saba and his wife Dawn of Mansfield.  Beloved grandmother, “Sitho” of Allison, Carolynn, Lauren, Stephanie, Bobby, Andrew, Emily, Joey, Marc, Stephen, Arianna, Joselyn, Ashley, Charles, Robby, and Jillian.  Dear sister of Naiff and Jessica Bethoney, Dianne and George Manley, Joseph Bethoney Jr. and Dianne Polizzi, Gloria and John Potenza, Gail and Rick Malloy, Peter and Joanne Bethoney and Russell and Jane Bethoney.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Rose’s Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 55 Emmonsdale Rd. WEST ROXBURY. Visiting hours in the Church Monday 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rose’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38148.

Rose will be laid to rest at Terrace Hill Cemetery in Walpole.
