Antoun Abdi, lovingly known as Tony, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved son of the late Miriam Chamo and Youssef Abdi, and the devoted husband of Gourget Abdi for 44 years. Together, Antoun and Gourget built a life centered on faith, family, and love. Tony was the proud and loving father of Patricia, Suzie, Mikey, and Joey, and the cherished grandfather, "Jiddo," of Ariel, Mikayla, and Elijah. He is also survived by his beloved brothers and sisters: Ya‘coub, Rosa, Najah, Malek, Sohayla, Seham, and Aboud. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jamil, Antoinette, and Hikmet.
Tony was loved by many. He was known for offering thoughtful advice and always going out of his way to help others. He carried himself with strength and resilience and lived his life grounded in faith and devotion to God and family. He was a faithful member of the Melkite Catholic community.
Tony’s Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral 7 VFW Parkway West Roxbury, Massachusetts. A visiting hour will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. and the Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. For those unable to attend in person, the Funeral Liturgy will be live-streamed at:www.bostonmelkite.org/zoom-liturgy
Tony will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn–North Purchase Cemetery 825 North Main Street Attleboro, Massachusetts. All are welcome to attend the burial.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tony’s memory may be made to Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral or to the Neurocritical Care Unit (NCCU) at Rhode Island Hospital 593 Eddy Street Providence, RI. Condolences may be extended to the Abdi, Chamo, Eleya, and extended families.
