Rt. Reverend Archimandrite John Jadaa, B.S.O., died peacefully in his sleep with family and his Religious Community attending him on May 7, 2016. He was 94 years of age. He was born in Cairo, Egypt on January 21, 1922. He professed on August 15, 1939 and on July 7, 1946, he was ordained.
He came to the United States in 1953. He founded Saint Basil Seminary for the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church and was he first rector from 1954 through 1962. He helped out at Our Lady of the Annunciation Syrian Catholic Church in Boston's South End in 1956 and 1957.
In 1965 he was a member of Orthodox-Catholic Consultation at Saint Spyridon Orthodox Church in Worchester, MA.
He was the loving brother of the late Alfred, Pierre, Paul and Yvonne Geadah. He is survived by 5 nieces and nephews in Canada, France and Egypt.
Most Reverend Nicholas Samra and Most Reverend Emeritus John Elya officiated Fr. John's Funeral Service and Divine Liturgy in the Chapel at St. Basil's Seminary, 30 East St. METHUEN, on May 11, 2016.
Fr. John was laid to rest with his brethren in the Cemetery on the grounds of St. Basil's Seminary.
