Bruce William Metcalf of Peabody, MA passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, surrounded by family. He was 81 years old.
Born in Everett, MA to William and Mary (McBride) Metcalf, Bruce grew up with a deep love for his family and friends and an unwavering loyalty to New England sports. Whether it was the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, or Bruins, he never missed a chance to cheer on his hometown teams.
Bruce proudly spent much of his professional career as Co-Founder & Owner of Sequel Associates, Inc. in Tewksbury, MA.
Bruce found his greatest joy in the simple things in life – time spent with family and good friends, summers at “Camp” on Trickey Pond in Naples, ME, and milking a good vodka on ice with a lemon. For nearly 50 years, Trickey Pond was his home away from home, a place filled with memories of laughter, relaxation, sunsets, and campfires with friends and family. He was the kind of guy who always put others first, never hesitating to lend a hand or do something thoughtful for someone else. He loved listening to music at camp, especially Bob Seger, The Eagles, Creedence Clearwater, and The Righteous Brothers. As one of the patriarchs at “camp”, when it came to the beach, he was always one of the first to reserve his spot before the crowd rolled in…and one of the last to leave. He also enjoyed his daily trip to pick up a coffee and the local paper, always keeping up with the world in his own unique way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Richard Metcalf and Wayne Metcalf, and his sister-in-law Glenda (White) Schneider. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Carol (White) Metcalf; his daughters, Kate Metcalf and Christine (Metcalf) Wolfert and her husband Dan; and his beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Emma, and Addie. He is also survived by his sister MaryBeth Metcalf, sister-in-law, Frances Metcalf; sister-in-law, Peg (White) Cronin; brother-in-law, Fred Cronin; brother-in-law Tommy White; sister-in-law Alison White; brother-in-law Mike Schneider, as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and countless great friends who adored him.
Per his wishes, no formal services will be held. A private gathering will take place this summer to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you put on some Bob Seger, cheer for the home team, raise a glass in his honor, and cherish the time spent with those you love.
