Carmela (Corsaro) Salerno

Carmela (Corsaro) Salerno of Norwood, formerly of Roslindale and Boston’s North End, passed away on August 9, 2025. She was 89 years old.

Carmela was born in Italy and she and her husband moved their family to the United States, first to the North End of Boston, and then to Roslindale in the early 1970’s. She worked for many years as a housekeeper at the Faulkner Hospital.

Carmela was an avid gardener who could grow anything. She loved preparing Sunday dinners for her family, making wine, listening to Italian music, and watching the WWE on Friday evenings. Above all else, Carmela loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carmela was the dear and devoted wife of the late Guiseppe Salerno. Loving mother of Angelo Salerno of Rhode Island and his late wife Dorothy, Nella White and her husband Tom of Middleboro, Josephine Salerno of Florida, Anna White of West Roxbury, Ralph Salerno of North Carolina, Salvatore Salerno of Connecticut, Joseph Salerno and his wife Michelle of Norwood, and the late Grace Salerno. Cherished “Nonni,” of 31 grandchildren and may great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Josephine Cocuzzo, Anna Iraci, and the late Grace D’Ampolo and the late Joseph Corsaro. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Carmela’s Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa of Avila Church in West Roxbury. Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Carmela will be laid to rest with her beloved Guiseppe at St. Michael Cemetery in Roslindale.
