Eleonora
(Augustans) Rampans, of Dedham, formerly of West Roxbury
,
passed away on
January
30, 2023
. She was 94 years old.
Born on August 18, 1928, she fled war-torn Latvia with her parents, and her late, brother in 1944, during World War II. After living for some years in displaced person's camps in Germany and Czechoslovakia she and her family emigrated
to the U
nited States
in 19
49.
Settling
in Boston
,
she became very active in
the Latvian community
. In particular, she enjoyed; singing
in the
Boston
Latvian Choir
, attending Latvian religious, cultural, artistic, patriotic, fundraising, and social events
.
One of her favorite vacation spots was
the
family cottage at the
Latvian Lutheran Church Camp
(Piesaule)
in
Warner,
NH.
, as well as Cape Cod, especially Old silver beach.
Eleonora was a member of St. Theresa of
Avila Parish since
moving to West Roxbury in
1972
.
A
devout Catholic, she was a life-long member, and final secretary/ treasurer of
the
Latvian
Catholic
Association
of Boston.
As a
member of the Boston Latvian Retiree
'
s Club
, which met at The Latvian Lutheran Church in Exile of Boston, she would also periodically attend services there
.
She w
as
a lifetime member of the American Latvian
Association
.
She worked for
30
years
at
the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston
.
She
was happiest surrounded by
her family
, (often to watch Jeopardy). Keeping up with current events, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and feeding the birds, deer, and all the other wildlife at her home, she enjoyed life to the fullest, even in her golden years.
Eleonora was
the loving mother of Edward Rampans and his wife Lisa Ann Prestella
-Rampans
of Dedham.

is also survived by many loving cousins
, and other relatives
in Latvia
, with whom she has faithfully kept in contact with
.
Eleonora’s Funeral
will be from the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of
Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY
Thursday, February 9, 2023
at 9 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will
be held at St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held
Wednesday
February 8, 2023
from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited
to attend.
