Elizabeth Ann Diaz, born December 10, 1948, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024 at her home in Newton Centre, with her two siblings at her side following a valiant 3 year battle with cancer. She was 75 years old. Elizabeth Ann was born on December 10, 1948. She was the first of 3 children born to Maria Luisa Galliani Diaz and Evodio Diaz in New York state. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonnel High School in Brooklyn, New York, and later, Northeastern University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English. Elizabeth Ann became an international student, residing in Germany for three years. She went on to serve at Northeastern University’s International Student and Scholar Institute for almost 40 years as the International student and scholar advisor.
She was a lover of family traditions, the arts, music, and was a cherished educator. She became family with the thousands of foreign national students she advised, and embraced each one wholeheartedly. Elizabeth Ann joins her parents, Maria Luisa and Evodio. She leaves her sister Katherine, brother Edward, niece Alexandra Irene, goddaughter Angela, nephew Marc, and her grandnephew Maximus Petreus, and grandniece, Genevieve Joy.
Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church in West Roxbury at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
