Elizabeth I. (Kahaly) Attaya of Mansfield, formerly of Roslindale, passed away on December 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was 96 years old.

Elizabeth, “Izzy,” was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Abraham and Mary Kahaly. She married the love of her life Anthony "Tony" in Boston in 1946 who preceded her in 1995. Izzy and Tony settled down in Roslindale where they raised their family. She leaves her children, Karen Vartanian and her husband Ken of Washington State, Sam Attaya and his wife Janice of Walpole, Cheryl Deeb and her husband Paul of North Easton, Gale Habeeb and her husband James of North Easton, and Richard Attaya and his wife Kim of Mansfield. Loving “Tata,” of Kristina Vartanian, Kimberly Adams, Keri Vartanian, Matthew Attaya, Lynsey Smith, Michelle Carroll, Michael Deeb, Gina Haydock, Danielle Neumann, David Habeeb, Erika Attaya and Kelsey Attaya. Beloved great-grandmother, “Big Tata,” of Sebastian, Jordan, Quinn, Attaya, Isabel, Isla, Braden, Brooklyn, Mila, Madison, Crewe, Cecelia, Declan, Zander, Luca, Anthony, Domenic, Elizabeth and Stella.  Sister to Shirley Bezreh of Arlington and the late Olga Taksery and George Kahaly.

Izzy was a longtime active parishioner of Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral and belonged to the Annunciation’s Sodality. She was a member of the Nicholas G. Beram Veteran’s Association Ladies Auxiliary. Izzy was an excellent cook, but Arabic food was her specialty. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing bingo, reading, and looked forward to her Thursday evening card games with the girls. She was her happiest surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Izzy was loved by all and her glowing smile and gentle spirit lives on in the hearts of all she left behind.

Izzy will be laid to rest with her beloved Tony following a private Funeral Service. Contributions in her memory may be made to Our Lady of the Annunciation Cathedral, 7 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org.
