Florence B. (Gianelly) Stack

March 21, 1925 — June 6, 2018

Florence B. (Gianelly) Stack, of West Roxbury, formerly of Brighton and Boston’s West End, passed away on June 6, 2018. She was 93 years old.

Florence, or “Flo”, as she was called by many, was a very independent woman doing amazingly well living on her own, taking care of her needs, and keeping up a meticulously spotless apartment.  She was a long time Verizon employee back when it was the New England Telephone Company. She took pride in her appearance always making sure her hair was beautifully coiffed.  She dressed to the “nines” when she went out, even if to the hairdresser or food shopping.  She was so upset when she couldn’t wear her spike heels anymore and had to down size to wedges.   She never drove, so she was forever riding the MBTA but, unlike Charlie, she always returned.  For many, many years she traveled by the “T” into Boston each and every Saturday to shop at Filenes and Macy’s.  All the salespeople knew her by name.  She was loved by many, but her love for you had to be earned. You had to prove yourself.  Once she started calling you “lovey” though you knew she would be your friend for life.  A very feisty woman with a heart of gold.  A mother who cherished the very close relationship she had with her daughter and son and felt an equally strong bond with her late son-in-law and her daughter-in-law.   A caring grandmother who constantly prayed for her entire family and anyone else she heard may be having troubles, asking God to help them and always watch over them.  Forever in our hearts Ma.  May her memory be eternal.

Florence was the beloved mother of June Bellissimo of Randolph and her late husband Joseph,  Leo G. Stack Jr. and his wife Frances of West Roxbury. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew and Gregory Stack, Darlene, Philip, Darin and Gina Bellissimo, and the late Carolynn DiRoma-Sullivan.  She also leaves 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
