Florence "Evelyn" Dorsheimer of Dedham passed away on March 18, 2024 at the age of 98.
Over the years Evelyn spend a lot of time doing charitable work while making many close friends. She volunteered at the VA hospitals in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury. During her early years as a member of Riverdale School PTA she also assisted at the Well Baby Clinic and in later years served as a lunch mother and became pen-pals to many students there.
She enjoyed working as a census-taker and worked at the polls for many years at Riverdale School.
A devout parishioner of St. Susanna's Church in Dedham, Evelyn was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club and enjoyed working and coordinating many church events.
Evelyn was in her element when she was hosting large get-togethers for friends and relatives at her Riverdale home. She was blessed with a green thumb and her beautiful flower gardens were a testament to her talent. An avid waterskiier, she enjoyed boating and fishing on the Charles with her family. She was a constant supporter of Dedham sports teams and always gave out gum and drinks for the athletes. In her later years Evelyn loved playing cards, scrabble and bingo with her cherished friends.
Evelyn was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Florence "Evelyn" (Galvin) Gramer. Dear and devoted wife of the late John D. Dorsheimer. Beloved mother of Jack Dorsheimer and his wife Mary of Millis, Diane Haase-Leiden and her husband Steve of Norwood, James Dorsheimer and his wife Kim of Colorado, Lisa Procaccini and her husband Gary of Dedham, and the late David and Rita Dorsheimer. Beloved grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Doris “Claire” Baiona, Catherine “Kay” Estabrook, Arthur Gramer, Richard Gramer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Evelyn's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday May 7, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Susanna's Church in Dedham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
