George "Raleigh" Esper

April 1, 1926 — August 4, 2019

George Esper, affectionately known as “Raleigh”, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 4, 2019 at his home in Fraser, Michigan.  His loving wife Frances (Hull) was by his side throughout his long illness.  George was 93 years old.

Born in Norwood, George attended school there and, as it was for so many people in those days, he left high school to join the work force.  George moved to Detroit, Michigan where he went to work for the “Big Boy” Restaurant chain and later went to Ford Motor Company, where he remained until his retirement.

George is preceded in death by his parents, David and Millie (Abbott) Esper, his brothers Charles and Richard, as well as his sisters Frances and Freda Franciosi.  George has four surviving sisters: Catherine Moseley, Alice Kelley and Florence Esper, all of Norwood, as well as Marion “Dolly” Corcoran of Walpole.  George is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, as well as many grand-  and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Funeral from the KRAW-KORNACK Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. NORWOOD Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at  St. George Orthodox Church 6 Atwood Ave, Norwood. Visiting hours at the KRAW-KORNACK Funeral Home Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.   Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
