George J. Zahka

George J. Zahka, of North Hill, Needham formerly of West Newton, passed away on November 30, 2015 at the age of 93.
George was born and raised in Boston, and was a proud member of the Boston Latin School Class of 1939, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a founder of the advertising company, The DR Group, which subsequently became part of Omnicom.

George was the dear and devoted husband of Agnes (Shamiah). Beloved father of Joseph Zahka and his wife Deborah of Harwich, Kenneth Zahka M.D. and his wife Victoria of Ohio, James Zahka and his wife Joan of Boston, and David Zahka and his wife Frances of New Jersey. Dear "Gido" of 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Loving brother of Madeline Cahaly of Westwood, Adele Ash of Westborough, Albert Zahka of Wellesley, and the late William Zahka. Dear brother-in-law of Marion Zahka and the late Fred Cahaly, Gabriel Ash and Vivian Zahka. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

George's Funeral Service was held Friday December 4, 2015 in the Church of St. John of Damascus 300 West St. Dedham.

A U.S. Army Honor Guard paid tribute to George as he was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
