Georgette Rizk Dagher, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on November 5, 2026 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was 92 years old.
Family was at the center of Georgette’s life, and she was deeply devoted to those she loved. She was the dear and beloved wife of the late Michel Dagher and the beloved mother of Lina Gallotto and her husband Ottaviano of North Reading; Ghada Ponte and her husband Ronald of North Reading; Rula Maroun and her husband Angelo of Stoughton; and Najib Dagher and his wife Jessica of Arizona. She was the cherished grandmother, “Sitto,” of Marina Gallotto and her husband Jon Moser, Cristina Gallotto, Julia Gallotto, Sabrina Ponte, Nicholas Ponte and his fiancée Brittani Anderson, Sarah Maroun, and Damon Dagher; the dear great-grandmother of Giuliana Ponte; and the dear sister of the late Nassif Rizk, Georges Rizk, and Miriam Rizk.
Georgette was born in Lebanon to Almaza and Elias Rizk, with family roots in Beirut and Jirniah. Growing up she was dedicated to studying; She studied in English, French, and Arabic. Into her teen years, she took ballet en pointe and played basketball.
In 1970, Georgette and her husband, Michel, of Btaaboura, Lebanon, came to the United States with their children. Together, they shared a life in America, building a family in a country she was deeply proud to call home.
Faith and service were cornerstones of Georgette’s life. She was a devoted member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where she helped establish the Lebanese Syrian Ladies Aid Society. She also served as President of the Btaaboura Society in the 1980s and as President of the Tenants Association at the American Arabic Benevolent Association (AABA).
Professionally, Georgette worked as an Administrative Assistant at the American University of Beirut, supporting the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine. After coming to Boston, she proudly served as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Boston University School of Law from 1985 until her retirement. Her work at Boston University enabled her children to build their own foundations by continuing their education at the highest levels at the university.
Above all, her greatest role was being “Sitto.” She cared for her grandchildren for many years, never missed a dance recital or milestone, and passed down many Lebanese traditions through cooking “delicious” recipes, dancing, family gatherings, and lots of prayer.
In her spare time, she could be found nurturing a luscious garden that bore fruits that she shared with neighbors. She loved to host; It wasn’t a proper weekend to Georgette unless cousins and friends surrounded the table.
In later years, Georgette treasured her friendships at AABA, where she knitted, played cards, admired the gardens, and passed the time with friends who brought her great joy. Her family continues to feel her presence in the many sweaters she knitted, in the religious icons she gave them, and through the music of Fairuz.
She loved her homeland of Lebanon deeply, and hardly a day passed without her reminiscing about its mountains, cedars, and sea. Though she spent 56 years in the United States, Lebanon remained forever close to her heart.Georgette will be remembered for her unwavering faith, commitment to her community, and love of her family, near and far.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Thursday November 12, 2026 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church 55 Emmonsdale Rd. West Roxbury, followed by the Funeral Service in the Church at 11:00 a.m. Georgette will be laid to rest with her beloved Michel at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
