Henry W. Crede, Of West Roxbury, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away on May 12, 2015. He was 91 years old.
Born in Columbia, SC, Henry was a proud WWII US Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific and Atlantic theatres until 1945. In 2014, Henry donated a 6 foot bronze statue called "The Sailor" to the City of Columbia. The sculpture was unveiled and dedicated on Veteran's Day in the city's Memorial Park. His health prevented him from attending the ceremony, but his grandson, Jason, represented him with remarks and the acceptance of the Key to the City.
Henry worked for many years as an executive for Polaroid and was an avid collector of antiques. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Henry was the beloved husband of 68 years of Laurice (Haddad) of West Roxbury. Loving father of Alan Crede and his wife Patricia of Westwood, Clifford Crede of West Roxbury Kenneth Crede of West Roxbury and the late Carolyn Crede Gerety. Beloved grandfather, "Gramps" of John Gerety, Lynn Gerety, Alan H. Crede, Christine Crede, Jason Crede and Andrew Crede. Great grandfather of Ryan, Shawn and Brendan Gerety and Jackson Crede. Dear brother of Violet Wood of SC and the late Allen Crede. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Henry's Funeral Service was held May 15, 2015 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Cathedral 7 VFW Pkwy WEST ROXBURY.

Henry was laid to rest, with U.S. Navy Honors, at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
