Henry C. "Hank" Asmar

May 18, 1925 — October 12, 2015

Henry C. Asmar, B.P.D Ret., of West Roxbury, passed away on October 12, 2015. He was 90 years old.
Hank grew up in Boston's South End and was a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Kretchmer. Following the War, Hank married the love of his life, Alice Saba in April of 1950 and became a Boston Police Officer shortly after. An injury cut his service to the BPD Short, but his service to others lasted for the better part of the next 50 years. He was a member of the Nicholas G. Beram Veterans Assoc. and the St. Maron Society. What Hank enjoyed most in his life was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. What he loved second best, was Parkway Little League.
In 1962 Hank became involved with Parkway Little League. He began helping out his son's coach, and starting in the late 1960's through 1983, he was the head coach of the Major League Red Sox, a very enviable position in this Boston neighborhood. Over the years, he served as a board member and went on to become General Manager for the National League of the Little League Majors. He has always been fondly remembered by players and everyone involved in Parkway, and his volunteer service was second to none.
Hank was the dear and devoted husband of the late Alice (Saba). Loving father of Richard Asmar and his wife Sheryl of Milford, Mark Asmar and his wife Dawn of Somerset and Paul Asmar and his wife Tina of Westwood. Beloved grandfather, "Jido" of Stephanie, Christopher, Grayson and Pavielle Asmar. Dear brother of the late George Simon and Helen Simon.
Hank's Funeral Mass was celebrated October 16, 2015. at Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church, 61 Rockwood St. Jamaica Plain. Contributions in Hank's memory may be made to the American Stroke Association 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231 or to the Church.
Hank was laid to rest with his beloved Alice at Mt. Benedict Cemetery.
