Hind Dawi

Hind Dawi, of Newton, passed away on December 28, 2022. She was 89 years old.

Hind will be remembered, above all, as a woman who embodied warmth and strength, even in the hours up until her passing. All those who have had the pleasure to share in her presence can recall her affectionate energy: her cheerful singing and sense of humor, and the way she waved at everyone she passed, anywhere. To Hind, no one was a stranger. We are beyond lucky to have shared this life with her; she will be greatly missed.

Hind was the dear and devoted wife of the late Issa Saloum. Loving mother of Daed Saloum and her husband Raymond Eid of France, Imad Saloum and his wife Svetlana of Belarus, Joseph Saloum and his wife Obaida Haddad of Boston, Jamal Salloum and his wife Hiam Almari of Norwood, Ousama Saloum and his wife Yvonne of Newton, Basel Salloum and his wife Effie Ahladiotis of New York and the late Ayman Saloum. Cherished grandmother, “Teta” of 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Hind’s funeral will be held Monday, January 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral, 7 VFW Parkway WEST ROXBURY. Visitation in the Cathedral beginning at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hind’s memory may be made to the Cathedral.

Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the traditional meal of mercy, immediately following the funeral service in the Cathedral hall.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
