Jose M Fernandez

Jose M. Fernandez, a longtime resident of West Roxbury, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2016. He was 93 years old.
Born in Cuba, Jose and his beloved wife, Elsie, came to United States in 1961 and settled in West Roxbury. He enjoyed telling jokes and making people smile. Jose enjoyed fishing, and together with Elsie, loved to travel to Florida, especially to Miami, because it reminded them so much of Cuba.
Jose was the dear and devoted husband of 65 years of Elsie (Fundora). Loving father of Joseph Fernandez and his wife Lauretta of FL and Alicia Moran and her husband Paul of West Roxbury. Cherished grandfather, "Elo" of Bonnie Carey and her husband Tommy of West Roxbury and James Moran of West Roxbury and his girlfriend Gianna Flamia. Great-grandfather of Dylan. Dear brother of Alicia Garcia of Charlestown and the late Celia Sanchez, Lydia Urbano, and Bertha Fernandez. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Jose's Funeral will be from the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY Tuesday at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. John Chrysostom Church, West Roxbury at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Monday 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jose's memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 529 Main St. Charlestown, MA 02129.
Interment will be private.
