Joseph A. McGonagle of West Roxbury passed away on April 29, 2026. He was 48 years old.

Born in Boston, Joseph had a life-long love of trains and worked for several years for Amtrak. He loved hockey and was an “animal whisperer.” Above all else, he had an incredible work ethic and was the “rock” of his family, working hard and providing for them in every way necessary.

Joseph was the dear and devoted husband of Andrea (Mathieu) McGonagle. Loving step-father of Sarah Dibbles and her husband Robert. Loving son of the late Joan (Emmons) McGonagle and Henry McGonagle. Dear brother of the late Michael McGonagle. Dear son-in-law of Victoria Mathieu and John Mathieu.

Graveside Funeral prayers will be said for Joseph on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery 366 Cummins Highway in Roslindale. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
