Juanita Gelabert Cintrón

Juanita Gelabert Cintrón of Hyde Park, passed away on May 25, 2025, peacefully at her home. She was 79 years old.

Juanita worked for several years as a paraeducator in Boston Public Schools. She was a very creative person who enjoyed arts and crafts, and making jewelry and clothing for her family. She was an excellent cook and in her spare time enjoyed puzzles and playing mahjong. Above all else, Juanita was happiest surrounded by her loving family.

Juanita was the dear and devoted wife of Juan Lebrón. Loving mother of Dean Lebrón and his wife Noemi Rodriguez of Florida, Jill Melèndez and her husband Edwin Melèndez of Roxbury and Dagmar Mauro and her husband Emilio E. Mauro Jr. of Canton. Cherished grandmother, “Abuelita,” of Jasmin Irizarry-Lebrón and her husband Michael Steven Andrade II of Hyde Park, Jovany Isidoro Melèndez and his wife Crisonis Melèndez of Rhode Island and Dean Anthony Lebrón. Great-grandmother of Arya Andrade-Irizarry, Michael Steven Andrade III, Jayson Royce Melèndez, Jade Noelle Melèndez, and Zoeli Isabella Melèndez. Dear sister of Leonilda Gelabert Cintrón, Maria Dolores Gelabert Cintrón, Hilda Gelabert Berrrocales, Ramon Pascual Gelabert Cintrón, Leovigirdo Gelabert Cintrón, Leonardo Gelabert Cintrón, and the late Leyda, Andita, and Bernardo Gelabert Cintrón. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Juanita’s Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church 420 High St. Dedham. Visiting hours will be held Thursday May 29, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Juanita’s memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Juanita will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canton.
