It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Laurice M. David, on May 7, 2026.
Loving and devoted wife of 49 years to the late Edward David. Treasured mother of Caroline O’Brien and her husband Stephen of Chestnut Hill and Anne David MacMurray and her husband Christopher of Queens, NY. Cherished grandmother “Sithy” of Bailey and Matthew O’Brien. Beloved sister of Diana (Maloof) Deering and her husband Robert. Dear sister-in-law to Teresa (Turk) Maloof, Ruth (Palmer) Maloof and Emile Sawan. Laurice is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Laurice was predeceased by her siblings, Lila (Maloof) Haddad and her husband William, Mitchell Maloof, George Maloof, and Barbara (Maloof) Sawan.
Laurice was born into the Syrian Lebanese neighborhood in the South End of Boston and was a proud Girl’s High graduate, class of 1956. Laurice loved traveling and went around the world with her sisters during her single days. She met Edward at a hafli (a Lebanese dance party), and after a whirlwind courtship, they were married in 1972, where she wore a couture custom House of Bianchi dress that she adored and loved to show off even decades later. Laurice was Ed’s partner in their many businesses that spanned over four decades, as everything from bookkeeper to short order cook, but always by his side.
She and Edward settled with their children in Hingham, MA. Laurice always wanted to live by the ocean. Many happy memories were of days at Hingham Bathing Beach. Laurice would tuck herself into the shade of a tree with her library book and a thermos of coffee, with Edward joining the family for the sunset after work. Laurice continued her love of ocean travel with her family, always loving a warm weather jaunt to the Bahamas, Del Ray Florida, Aruba, and of course summers on Cape Cod.
Laurice had the unique ability to make any person feel entirely at home. Strangers told her their life stories, family asked for her fair advice, and friends shared their deepest secrets. Her quiet fierceness and irreverent hilarity were sought for any conversation. Anyone who brought Laurice their joys, sorrows, or questions was met with a conversation to make them feel seen, heard and appreciated. She loved her sons-in-law, Stephen and Christopher dearly. They weren’t her “in-laws,” they were her sons, and she took pride and joy in their accomplishments.
Laurice had many names: The pharmacist’s wife, Mrs. D, Auntie Reece, but her favorite name was Sithy. Bailey and Matthew were the light of her life and she relished being a daily part of their lives. But it wasn’t just Bailey and Matthew who called her Sithy, friends, neighbors, and extended family members did as well. She made everyone feel like her cherished grandchildren.
While Laurice loved her family and home life the most, she often could be found enjoying a scratch ticket or a visit to a casino, from Foxwoods to Vegas, but always with her family and friends right there cheering her on.
