Lillian Joseph

Lillian Joseph, of Norwood, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on July 21, 2023. She was 93 years old. Lillian was born on November 14, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, as the sixth child to Michael and Miriam (Kaanan) Joseph. Lillian, known by Lilly to those close to her, was a caring, clever, and loving girl from a young age, and a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to all throughout her life. She had a smile and laugh that will never be forgotten.

Lilly attended Roslindale High School and graduated in 1947. After graduating, she worked alongside her brothers and sisters at her father’s business, M. Joseph Sewing Machine Company, in West Roxbury. Lilly spent her working career as a bookkeeper at United Liquors. She settled in West Roxbury, where she was an active member of her church community. Lilly enjoyed singing in the choir, dancing at Moseley’s on the Charles, traveling with her friends, drawing, and bowling. She was also an animal lover and a Jeopardy whiz. Lilly cared endlessly for her family - she was cherished “Auntie Lilly” to her nieces and nephews, whom she often babysat during their younger years.

Lilly is predeceased by her parents Michael and Miriam Joseph; her brothers Joseph, Nicholas, and Arthur Joseph; and her sisters Rose Joseph and Sarah Pucci. Lilly is survived by her sister Helen Dalton; her sister-in-law Irene Joseph; her many loving nieces and nephews and their families; and her beloved cousins and friends.

Lilly's Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 55 Emmonsdale Rd. West Roxbury. Visitation in the Church beginning at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Lilly will be laid to rest at Mt Hope Cemetery in Boston.
