Lillian F. Mahoney passed away on June 4, 2021. She was 92 years old. Lillian was born in Charlestown and lived for most of her life in West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. For the past few years, Lillian had been a resident of The Enclave in Franklin and died peacefully there, surrounded by Enclave staff and by the devoted nurses of Old Colony Hospice.
Lillian had a beautiful singing voice and was a lively presence at sing-a-longs in the Enclave dining room and at the Franklin Senior Center. She had been an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Jamaica Plain and later of St. Mary’s parish in Franklin.
Lillian graduated from Charlestown High School with the class of 1946 and attended the Hickox secretarial school in Boston. She worked in the legal field and for Radio Shack’s corporate offices, where she met her future husband, John Daniel Mahoney of Roslindale. She and John married in June of 1961 and spent many happy years in West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. They were parents to Mary Lillian Mahoney and lived near Larz Anderson Park, where they were frequent attendees of antique auto shows and other events. John preceded Lillian in eternal rest in 2011.
What Lillian loved more than anything was spending time with her family. She was one of twelve brothers and sisters, and was a loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was a particularly devoted “nana” to her granddaughter, Lauren, the only child of her daughter Mary Lillian and Mary’s husband Kenneth of Medway.
Lillian was the sister of William and Mary Regan, Rita Mawn and her late husband James, Mildred Wojnar and her late husband Henry, Eleanor Woods and her late husband John, Verna Regan and her late husband Joseph, the late Claire and Gordon Wolfram, the late John and Mary Regan, the late Esther and John Flynn, the late Sister Mary Regan Licinius C.S.J., the late Jeremiah, and the late James Regan. She was also the dear sister-in-law of the late Robert and Grace Mahoney of Cranston, RI, the late William, and the late George Mahoney.
