Maureen Lynne (Hughes) Vinal

Maureen (Hughes) Vinal of Roslindale, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on June 9, 2021.  She was 70 years old.

Maureen was born and raised in West Roxbury in an Irish Catholic family by the late Rita and Joseph Hughes. The middle child of six, Maureen attended The Joyce Kilmer and Shaw Schools in West Roxbury before graduating Roslindale High School in 1969.  Maureen married Michael, her husband  of 44 years, in 1977 and spent her life raising her two children, Lori and Kathleen, and was loved dearly by her 5 grandchildren, Kayla, Brittany, Samantha, Adriana and Nathan. Maureen had a sweet tooth and loved baking. She would humor her grandkids on birthdays by making a cake and then singing and relighting until the kids heart's content, or the candle wore down to low, whichever came first. Maureen was diagnosed with early onset Dementia in her early 60's and was cared for lovingly by her devoted husband until she was unfortunately taken from her family far too soon, to be forever loved and cherished.

Maureen was the dear sister of Janis Hohman of West Roxbury, Joseph Hughes of Walpole, William Hughes of Walpole, John Hughes of Dedham, and the late Michael Hughes.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Maureen's funeral will be from the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. West Roxbury Tuesday June 15th at 9 a.m.  Funeral Mass at St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 a.m.

Visiting hours Monday 5-8 p.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Maureen will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
