Raymond F. Jowdy

June 25, 1939 — June 4, 2025

Westwood

Raymond Francis Jowdy of Westwood, passed away peacefully at his home on June 4, 2025, following a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was 85 years old.

Raymond was born in June of 1939 to Nassib and Esma (Nimer) Jowdy, the youngest of 10 children. He grew up in Danbury, CT before moving abroad to work in his family business in Chile. He returned to the US and graduated from New England law school before opening a practice in Massachusetts, where he met his loving wife, Josepha. Together they raised their three sons and provided them with an excellent life.

Ray profoundly treasured his family and friends, and always made it a point to make regular trips to see his brothers who guided him through life and his sisters who doted on him. Although he had seemingly innumerable nieces and nephews, he was close with many of them. He was known by all as a kind and gracious man. He was known for his love of golf, his luck at the craps table, and his endless appetite for pasta.

Raymond will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Raymond was the dear and devoted husband of Josepha (Yazbak). Loving father of Raymond Jowdy of Brooklyn, NY, Joseph Jowdy and his wife Rita of Longwood, FL, and Alex Jowdy and his wife Missy of Port Orange, FL. Cherished grandfather, “Giddo,” of Joey, Jia, Alexis, Ava, Ryan and Owen. Dear brother of Margaret J. Essa and the late James Jowdy, Taffy Jowdy, Alice Webster, Gloria Jowdy, Edward Jowdy, Evelyn Attick, Joan Asmar, and Teddy Jowdy. Dear brother-in-law of Jackie Jowdy, Alfred Yazbak and Teresa Saltzman.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
