Robert Anthony Gamel, of Randolph, formerly and proudly of Boston's South End, passed away on December 9, 2024. He was 85 years old.
"Bobby" was born on November 23, 1939 to Mary (Ayoub) and Anthony Gamel. After graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a computer operator in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet Programming Center in San Diego, California. He would serve from 1959 to 1965, which was during both the Korean War and Vietnam War eras. After serving, he returned home to Boston and began working at Blue Cross Blue Shield, while taking night courses at Northeastern University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He would go on to a 26-year career at Blue Cross Blue Shield, mainly as an Information Technology consultant.
Bobby was the beloved father of Kristyn Lawson and her husband Tarry Lawson (Maj. U.S.A.F.) of Nebraska, and the late Keri Anne Gamel. Dear grandfather "Jidoo" of Tarek, Brayden and Loghan Lawson, and Brie Anne Gamel. Loving brother of Paul Gamel and his wife Darya of Canton, Gerald "Jay" Gamel and his wife Margaret of Milton, Ronald Gamel and his wife Geraldine of Quincy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Bobby's Funeral Service will be held Monday December 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral 7 VFW Parkway West Roxbury. Visiting hours in the Cathedral Monday 9:00-11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
