Russell A. Dolabany of Dedham passed away on September 7, 2026. He was 85 years old.
Russell was an incredibly giving and generous man. He was very close with his siblings, and was always there for them, visiting them or helping them get to various appointments. Upon arriving in the United States in 1968, he established a residential painting company. He took great pride in his work and spent many years making home interiors beautiful. He Later owned and operated the Mobil gas station in Newton Lower Falls for many years. Russell was an instrumental figure in the founding of St Matthew's Syriac Orthodox Church in West Roxbury. When he and his beloved Rose celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, their children gifted them a trip, and they have loved to travel ever since. They visited numerous places all over the world including Alaska, Aruba, various cruises, and visiting family in Lebanon. He was always quick with a joke and always had a smile on his face. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, watching the Celtics, or attending his grandchildren's sporting events and other activities. Above all else, Russell was happiest surrounded by his family.
Russell was the dear and devoted husband of Rose (Karak). Loving father of Richard Dolabany and his wife Mary of Westwood, Rachel Elias and her husband Jihad of Norwood, and Renee Tannous and her husband Antoone of North Easton. Cherished grandfather, "Gido," of Mya, Russell, Luke, Serena, Trinity, Anthony and Sam. Dear brother of Fouad Daoulabani of West Roxbury, Georgette Daouli of CA, and the late Leila Bunai, Souheil Dawlabany, Lama Akl, Mary David, James Dolabany, Moufid Dolabany, and Salwa Dawlabany. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Russell's Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Syriac Orthodox Church 149 Park St. West Roxbury, MA 02132. Visiting hours will be held in the Church on Thursday September 10, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
