Samuel Shaheen of West Roxbury, formerly of Boston’s South End, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on May 14, 2025. He was 96 years old.
Sam was a proud United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Following the war, he worked for many years as a garment cutter. He was blessed with the “gift of gab” and a love of all things chocolate. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading the Globe from cover-to-cover everyday, completing the crossword puzzle and the Jumble, and playing Scrabble with his family and friends. He was a history buff who loved airplanes, often traveling to airshows to see the Blue Angels, or even just to Castle Island or Norwood Airport to see the air crafts coming and going. Sam’s pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and having them visit him at his favorite place in the world, his home in West Roxbury where he lived for the past 60 years.
Sam was the dear and devoted husband of the late Lillian (Curry) Shaheen. Loving father of Donna Webster and her husband Michael of Dallas, TX; Robert Shaheen and his wife Lisa of Dracut; and Lisa Carrier and her husband Christopher of West Roxbury. Cherished grandfather, “Gido,” of Eric Benanti, Alex Benanti and his wife Anna Claire, Tayla Marifiote and her husband Joseph, and Tiffany Shaheen. Great-grandfather of Lucca and Jack Benanti, and Luciana and Valentina Marifiote. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his six dear siblings.
Funeral Services will be private.
