Shirley (Kahaly) Bezreh

Shirley Bezreh of Arlington passed away peacefully on August 28, 2022 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Mitchell Nicholas Bezreh who pre-deceased her in 2016.

Shirley was born and raised a city-girl in Boston’s South End. Soon after high school she met the love of her life, Mitch, at a church picnic and they started their happy life together in 1956. She devoted much time throughout her life serving St. Mary Orthodox Church as a member of the Womens Club, as the smiling face that greeted parishioners at the “bengarri” every Sunday, and on the Parish Council. She was happiest surrounded by family with Mitch and their children and grandchildren, and socializing and traveling with their dear friends. Shirley was the ultimate homemaker and found great joy cooking for her family; stepping into Shirl’s kitchen was a place of love for all. Shirley ("Tata") will forever be in our hearts.

Devoted mother of Nick Bezreh and wife Carol of Needham, Steve Bezreh and wife Susan of Wilmington, Susan Dooley and husband Brian of Burlington, and Mark Bezreh and wife Robin of Reading. Loving grandmother "Tata” of Nicole Nadeau and husband Mike, Chris Bezreh and wife Sandy, Alyssa Bezreh; Kristie Bezreh, Stacey Bezreh, Tommy Bezreh, and Sabrina Doyle; Erica Allen and husband Jeff, Jeremy Dooley and wife Kat; Jimmy Bezreh and Julia Bezreh. Great-grandmother to Cody Allen and Elena Bezreh. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by parents Abraham and Mary Kahaly, sisters Elizabeth (Izzy) Attaya and Olga Taksery, and brother George Kahaly.

Visiting hours Thursday Sept. 1st  4-7pm at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 8 Inman St. Cambridge. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Service Friday at 10 am, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Ave. Hyde Park. Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. Mary Orthodox Church 8 Inman St. Cambridge, MA 02139 (please see DONATIONS link below.)
