Stuart N. Palonen

Stuart N. Palonen of Medford passed away on July 8, 2025. He was 89 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Stuart was a proud Veteran of the United States Coast Guard. In his spare time he enjoyed studying weather and genealogy. Above all else, Stuart was happiest surrounded by his loving family.

Stuart was the dear and devoted husband of the late Rose (Tierney) Palonen. Loving father of Debra Barbitta and her husband Andrew of South Carolina, Mark Palonen of Waltham, and the late Steven Palonen and Sonja Odom. Cherished grandfather, “Grandpa,” of Laura, Shawn, and Christoper Odom. Dear brother of Candy Tallent of South Carolina, Philip Palonen of Connecticut, and the late Gerald Palonen and Chris Palonen. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Stuart’s Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Theresa of Avila Church in West Roxbury. Visiting Hours will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Stuart will be laid to rest with his beloved Rose at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
