Theodora "Dora" Stefanidakis

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Theodora Stefanidakis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Greek-American community. Born on June 19, 1949, in Plati, Lemnos, Greece, Theodora’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith.

On October 1, 1972, Theodora married the love of her life, Simeon Stefanidakis. Shortly after, in November 1972, the couple embarked on a courageous journey to Somerville, Massachusetts, with just five dollars and a dream. Despite the challenges, their determination and hard work laid the foundation for a beautiful life for their two daughters, Angela and Maria.

Together, Theodora and Simeon established “Simeon’s Fine Tailoring” in Cambridge’s Central Square. Their dedication not only built a successful business but also made them pillars of the local community.

A devout member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Theodora generously volunteered her time, assisting with luncheons, Greek festivals, and baking her renowned tyropitakia whenever called upon.

Theodora’s warmth extended beyond her immediate family. She was a devoted wife to Simeon, a loving mother to Angela and Maria, a doting grandmother to Thea and Sam, and a supportive mother-in-law to Paul and the late Niko. Affectionately known as Manoula, Mama, Giagia, and Theia, her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, impeccable style, and legendary cooking left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Her legacy of love, strength, and community service will continue to inspire and guide us.

May her memory be eternal.

The celebration of her life will be held on Monday, May 19.  All services will be held at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church 14 Magazine St. Cambridge.  Visiting hours 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.  Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.  Theodora will be laid to rest at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Stoneham.
