Violet M. Kfoury

July 8, 1921 — March 23, 2009

Violet M. Kfoury, of Lawrence, passed away on March 23, 2009. She was 87 years old. Born in Methuen, Violet was a graduate of Methuen High School Class of 1939. In 1945, she received her BA in Education from University of Massachuetts Lowell before earning her Master's Degree in Music Education. She later went on to teach music in the Methuen Public Schools for many years, serving as Music Supervisor for 5 years. She also taught for 3 years at the Pike School in Andover. Violet served on the Board of Directors for the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and was very active in Mu Phi Epsilon, an international music fraternity. Violet was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She sewed wedding and first communion gowns and taught piano to children and adults for over 60 years. Violet was the loving daughter of the late George and Effie Kfoury. Dear sister of the late Eleanor Hanoosh, Isabel Kfoury, Dr. Mitchell Kfoury, John Kfoury, Martha Kfoury Bartlett and Marion Kfoury. Beloved aunt of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Cherished friend to countless people in the Greater-Lawrence community. Violet's Funeral Service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Church, 241 Hampshire St. LAWRENCE. Visiting hours Sunday 5-8 pm at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. METHUEN. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At Violet's request, please do not send flowers, and make contributions in her memory to the Church or to St. Basil Seminary, 30 East St. Methuen, MA 01844. Interment will be private.
