Bernardo Francisco Quintero, of Dedham, passed away on June 17, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was 58 years old.
Bernardo was the youngest son of the late Victor Manuel Quintero and Maria del Rosario Pereira de Quintero, dear brother of Felipe and his partner Grace O’Donnell of Framingham, Victor Manuel of Dedham, Doris and Roger Youngman of Lynn, Ilse and Steve Sousa of Dedham and Maria Quintero of Dedham. Beloved uncle of Sebastian and Yvonne Youngman, Maria and Steven Sousa, Lucas and Teresa Quintero. Dear nephew and cousin of many in Colombia and the US and “Papa” to “Vivis” (Viviana Garzon) and “brother” to Marcela Pereira. Godfather to Jasmin Forero, Jason Banks and Karen Luciana Quintero Zorro and Dani Perreira.
Bernardo was a 1982 graduate of Mario Umana High School. He studied and mastered Kung Fu martial arts from the age of 17 into his forties. Bernardo continued this spirit of mind-body
connection by practicing as a certified massage therapist for many years. His zeal to help others also came through in his role as an IT Help Desk technician in various hospital systems for decades. He cherished his lifelong friends as family, in particular: Mike and Debbie Tully, Jimmy and Lisa Banks, Nestor Limas and many others.
The family appreciates the care provided by Bernardo’s PCP for 38 years, Dr. Carol Ehrlich and the staff from Good Shepherd Hospice and the many prayers and kindnesses from family and friends. We are especially grateful for the unwavering care and support that Ilse and Steve and our brother Felipe and uncle “brother” Paul Lalinde provided through this most difficult time.
A wake will be held at Kfoury-Keefe Funeral Home, 8 Spring Street on Thursday June 23 from 2 to 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Chestnut Hill. To be informed of those details please contact Lqt2131@gmail.com.
