Gloria Ann (Jabbour) Zahka

Gloria A. (Jabbour) Zahka, of Hull, formerly of Arlington, passed away on January 7, 2023. She was 89 years old.

Born in Fall River, Gloria moved to Allston when she was 10 years old.  She married Edward, the love of her life when she was 19, and they raised their family in Arlington.

Gloria was a very active parishioner of the Church of St. John of Damascus. She was a member of the Nicholas G. Beram’s veteran’s organization at St. Johns and also served for 10 years as the superintendent of Sunday School.  She was active in the PTA in Arlington, the Parent Guild, and the Virgin Mary Society. Above all else, Gloria was happiest by the ocean in Hull, surrounded by her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gloria was the Dear and devoted wife of the late Edward A. Zahka. Loving mother of Donna Boyle and her husband James of Arlington, Edward Zahka Jr. and his wife Paula of Hull, Wayne Zahka and his wife Dana of Hull, Valerie Zahka Henderson and her husband William of Norwood, Deborah Greenstein and her husband Charles of Hull and Lisa Cassarino and her husband David of CT. Cherished grandmother, “Tata,” of 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Sam Jabbour of West Roxbury and the late Mary Cardoos, Nora Khouri Barakat and Julia Jabbour. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Gloria’s Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 12 p.m. at the Church of St. John of Damascus, 300 West St. Dedham. Visitation in the Church beginning at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Church.

Gloria will be laid to rest with her beloved Edward at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
