John "Jack" Cosgrove Jr. Obituary

Jack Cosgrove, dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and extraordinary friend, left us on June 1, 2018. Jack had just celebrated his 71st birthday in defiance of a long siege of Multiple Myeloma.

Born John Michael Cosgrove, Jr. on May 8, 1947, son of John M. Cosgrove, Sr. and Mary Anita Barry Cosgrove and brother of Judith Cosgrove Benedict, Jack grew up in River Vale and Ridgewood, NJ. He was a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School where he was known for his comedic personality. He graduated from Northeastern University. Jack was a natural friend who was loved by many. He married the kindest woman ever, Priscilla Resevic, and became a beloved neighbor in Newton Center, gracing the world with his beautiful, accomplished daughters, Molly and Lily.  Jack improved homes in the greater Boston area, was an avid sailor, cheered on the Celtics and Red Sox, and loved the Boston Globe. He was at his best as Vacation Dad, a role he mastered at various “Camp Jack Bought All the Toys” where he would make everyone laugh and feel included. Jack created adventures along the way and brought the party wherever he went, including his last days.  Jack fought hard and we will miss his friendship, kindness and his curious take on the world.

Jack is also survived by his nephews Joshua and Luke Benedict; his niece Zoe Velez, his great nephew and namesake, Luca Jack Velez, his sisters-in-law, Katrina Resevic Scott and Patricia Resevic. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Dana Farber Cancer institute, Yawkey 7 for their kindness, compassion and good cheer.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
