Martin Ugarte-Chavez

Martin Ugarte-Chavez, of Allston, formerly of Peru, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023  peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 62. He was a loving and wonderful father to Rafaela Ugarte-Núñez and Juan Luis Ugarte-Núñez and a loving and caring husband to Patricia Núñez-Salas. ​​

Martin spent most of his years in Arequipa, Peru, where he found his love for dentistry and became an Arequipeño at heart. When he wasn’t telling stories of his adventures when he was younger or sharing his love for history with others, Martin could always be found doing something active. He loved to spend his weekends hiking in New Hampshire or cycling along the Charles taking in the fresh air of Boston. He dreamt of hiking ancient Incan ruins in Peru and at some point, seeing all the 7 wonders of the world. And when you couldn’t find him either hiking or cycling, you could always find him patiently teaching BU dental students as a clinical faculty member with a smile on his face. Martin was loved by many in his community, both in Peru and in Boston, and he will forever be missed by both

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Martin will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
