“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.”
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mikhael Esber Salloum on June 20, 2023.
Mikhael Salloum lived his entire life putting family and country above all else. He graduated from the Royal Polytechnic Institute in London and served as a professor of mechanical engineering at Damascus University for more than 40 years. He helped design most of the major buildings, hospitals, convention centers, hotels and hospitals in Syria in the last 50 years. He will be always remembered as a brilliant engineer, dedicated teacher, but mostly as a kind and loving father and family man. May God rest his soul in eternal peace!
Mikhael was the dear and devoted husband of Marie Chauk. Loving father of Dr. Rita Jabbour and her husband Nizar of France, Dr. Fadi Salloum and his wife Lama of Michigan, Dr. Eyad Salloum and his wife Rita of Westwood, and Nabil Salloum of Westwood. Cherished grandfather, “Jedo,” of Michael, Daniel, Lauren, Charles, Lara, Antoine. Dear brother of George, Victoria, and Souad Salloum, all of Syria and the late Maryam Salloum. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
