Nancy Louise (Hannon) Murphy of Brighton passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 just a week shy of her 93rd birthday. She was the wife of the late Lt. John J. Murphy Ret. Mass State Police. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage prior to his passing.
In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her parents, Elise (Zwicker) and Eugene Leo Hannon II and her brother, Eugene Leo Hannon III.
Nancy was born in the Berkshires and had lived in Brighton since 1955. She leaves her niece Deborah Ganley of Keene, NH, great nephew Zachary Ganley of Raleigh, NC, great niece Ana Ganley of Keene, NH, nephews Jeffrey Hannon of Amenia, NY and Christopher Romeo of Hebron, CT.
She also leaves her niece JoAnn Baer, great nephew Michael Baer and great niece Julia Baer all of Contoocook, NH, nephew Robert Murphy and great nephews Camden and Myles Murphy all of Dover, NH and many dear friends.
Nancy loved to write letters to communicate with friends and family. She often said, “taking pen in hand is such a pleasure.” She thought that letter writing was a lost art.
In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, she will be laid to rest in the Berkshires and a memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to St. Ignatius of Loyola Senior Outreach, 28 Commonwealth Ave, Chestnut Hill, MA. 02467.
