Phil Salhaney

Phil Salhaney, 72, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on July 5th after a battle with cancer.

Phil was born on May 29, 1950 in Boston to George and Najla Salhaney. Phil’s passion for art, photography, music, and genuine human connection was apparent throughout his entire life. Phil found his true calling when he became involved in the world of psychotherapy, and went on to thrive in this career for the next 35 years. Phil obtained his LICSW and worked as a clinician at Massachusetts Mental Health Center. There he was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School where he trained physicians in group and individual work. He also worked as a clinician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and most recently focused on his private practice. His sincere wisdom, insight and intelligent comedic input were received with admiration and adoration by all who encountered him.

He was the proud father of Kira Salhaney, 29, of West Roxbury. He was predeceased by her mother Colleen McGrath and leaves behind his brother Steven Salhaney of Weymouth, MA, his brothers-in-law Tim, Mick, and Peter McGrath, and his mother-in-law Janet Worthen. He was predeceased by his nephew Adam Salhaney.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. West Roxbury.  Phil’s Funeral will be private, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
