William E. Gutowski, PhD of Medfield, formerly of Orleans and West Roxbury, passed away on November 12, 2022. He was 72 years old.
Billy grew up in West Roxbury and attended St. Theresa of Avila School and was a graduate of Boston College High School. Following high school, Billy went on to earn a degree in Mathematics from Tufts University and then his PhD in Statistical Psychology from Tufts. He was a professor at Merrimack College and Tufts University for many years. He loved helping students, tutoring subjects ranging from 3rd grade math to quantum physics. He helped many people earn their Master’s and Doctorate Degrees.
Billy was an avid fan of all of the Boston sports teams and Notre Dame football. He was a devout Catholic and loved all kinds of music. Above all else, Billy was happiest surrounded by family, especially his niece and nephews.
Billy was the loving brother of Maureen Connolly and her husband Neil of Medfield. Loving uncle of Timothy Carrigan, Bridget Carrigan and Patrick William Connolly. Loving son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Walsh). Dear cousin of John Hanley, Marie Costa, Linda Smith and Mary Antonett, and dear friend of Jeffrey Connolly.
Billy’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Theresa of Avila Church. Visitation 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home, 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Billy will be laid to rest at New Calvary Cemetery in Boston.
